What I've done, and will do for you.

2006-present Mornings at FrankFM, Reading PA (Philadelphia ADI) I brought a major-market quality show to the suburbs of Philly, was responsible for interacting with marvelous co-host Jenn, running the board, running the web site, making the coffee (I DO make a mean pot). I did personal appearances, endorsements, you name it. I received my first ratings bonuses since the nineties here, and was well on my way to “beloved near-native” status when a misbegotten LMA deal fell through, and the station was pulled out from under us. I’m quite proud of the work I did with Jenn, my first-ever female full partner, who taught me much.

2005-2006 Morning Talk at CBS’ Spike1140, Las Vegas I built a fiercely loyal audience for an entertaining caller-driven lifestyle morning talk show. Talkers Magazine voted me into the elite 250 in the nation, a field of 5,000+ (see below). I ran the board, took the calls, made the coffee. This was my first foray into pure Talk radio AND my first time flying solo, with what I’ve affectionately referred to as “a bare light bulb and a microphone.” (In actuality we also had Audiovault, ProTools, Audion, and I’m familiar with it all. I am also handy with Scott Studios, 360 systems and anything on a Mac or PC.)

2002-2005 Morning Comedy/Talk at HotTalk1140, Las Vegas Had three supremely creative and hilarious years with partner Jim Tofte, in a hybrid format that allowed us to stretch out and let the comedy happen. In 2003, we were named best morning show at the local Electronic Media Awards. Great co-workers, interns, characters, but not a great budget. Still, it was great radio.

1990-2001 Johnson & Tofte Show at KKLZ, Las Vegas Eleven market-dominating years, with countless stunts, bits and prank calls that you could never get away with today. Had the most fun of my career, and made the most money too. I used to regret not hanging on to more of it than I did, but I now realize that Wall Street would have lost it for me anyway!

1982-1990 WWCT Peoria, IL / WVIC Lansing, MI / WTPA Harrisburg, PA / KCFX Kansas City Eight years honing my craft, in preparation for the J&T assault on Las Vegas. (Media consultant Jeff Murphy is your best long-time reference, because he was our PD in both Peoria and Las Vegas, and I’ve known him for 27 years!)

QUALIFICATIONS I have 27 years of experience in Classic Rock, beginning when it was current on the charts. I've written and produced hundreds of comedy bits and parody songs, many of which have been showcased on the Dr. Demento Show. I pride myself on my positive attitude, team spirit and hard work ethic. I value my relationships with other people… I burn no bridges and am still on great terms with most everyone I’ve worked with. Appearances? I love them, and will do everything to make every remote great, and to win people over. Ego? Enough to get the job done, but never too much to do whatever is asked of me. I take my work extremely seriously, but never myself.

PERSONAL I have a long-suffering and wonderful wife, Mary Jane and four kids, ages 24-35. Jeremy’s a rock star/liquor rep (isn’t that the same thing?), Mike is a cop, Monica is a medical office manager and Carly sings jazz and works in a hardware store. There isn’t enough space here to talk about my amazing grandkids, but trust me, I have pictures.
